Earlier in 2014, Lingua Luna received a micro grant from Tweet Small Change (http://www.tweetsmallchange.org/). We used the funds to record four songs and put them on digital download cards to hand out to the people in our community — for free! Some of the cards are even printed on seed paper, so you can plant the card after you download the songs to grow a pot of wildflowers. So far it’s been a great experience! We’ve had to gigs with the 2014 Minneapolis Music in the Park series — one at Bryant Square and one at Minnehaha Falls — and a plethora of farmers markets gigs — including Fulton, Kingsfield, and Nokomis. At each of these community events, we’ve had the opportunity to perform live music to passersby, patrons, families, individuals, and dancing children; and they have all left with free music to bring home with them. In return, we’ve made a lot of new friends, met some new connections, and learned a lot about ourselves as musicians! We could not have asked for a better experience or a better outcome.
We will be performing at one more farmers market before the end of the growing season (Oct. 4th Fulton Farmers Market), and have plenty of download cards left to give out, so we look forward to continuing to share our music with our community in as many ways as we can come up with! Endless thanks to Tweet Small Change for supporting our project, and many more thanks to our beautiful community for inviting us to perform and listening to us do what we love to do!
See you soon,
